Well my Peeps, this is part 3 of 3 of the Urban Film Showcase review. If you’ve missed part 1 and 2 hit up the archives. Last but certainly not least, I give you Hot-V’s “The Drop Off.” This movie was shot in Orlando and Hot-V is definitely representing the O in this film. Without giving too much away, this is suppose to be Hot-V’s last drop and then he wants out of the game. One of the men co-starring in the movie Teddy P., doesn’t want Hot-V to leave the game, because he feels he can’t operate without him. When things get more and more jacked-up for Hot-V and Teddy P. they find themselves getting deeper and deeper into the game. There is so much comedy, action and my favorite drama in this movie, I was left wanting more. Director Charles Pham did his thang. I must admit, I expected to see some low budget acting and scene selections. Oh boy was I fooled. The transition from scene to scene was smooth and the actors were better than any I’ve seen in a movie of this caliber with a budget. Because, according to the cast and crew of “The Drop Off” this wasn’t a low budget movie, this was a no-budget movie. Folks you’ll love this film. I suggest you get at Hot-V to see how you can be as entertained as I was. Just search myspace for the Hottest Rapper in Orlando and he’s at the top of the page. Hat’s off to the brothers, hustling in a positive way. Not only is he an actor, but Hot-V is claiming to be as stated above, Orlando’s Hottest Rapper. Born and raised in Palatka, Florida, Hot-V has been in Orlando for the past 10 years. His new album “Hurricane” will be released in Feb. of ’08. I had a chance to sit and chat with Hot-V, check it out: On Album Colabs: He has Khia and Black Mike, but states he didn’t want too many colabs; Hot-V likes to stand on his own. He does point out that he can work with anyone like Christina Aguliera; it doesn’t matter who you are, he’s versatile. On the N, H and B-Word: He feels freedom of speech is very important. He doesn’t think the NAACP can stop people from using the words. Hot-V makes it known while he feels it’s necessary at times to use these words, and if he feels the need he’s going to use them, but he doesn’t talk like that on a regular basis. On the Name of the Album: Hot-V knows how devastating a hurricane can be and he doesn’t want anyone affected by the storm to get the wrong impression. This album is three-years in the making and he feels his album “Hurricane” will leave a statement to be remembered. On Why Buy the Album: For new music like “Y’all Haters No Me” and hot beats. The ladies will enjoy “Milk & Cookies” and “Make Love Tonight”. Park it with Princess favorite Hot-V song is “Get Ghost.” You’re sure to love not only the beats that will get you moving, but the lyrics you can relate to. On His Company Backyard Entertainment: He’s a firm believer in the truth. He would never put an artist on the back burner just so he can shine. He’s going to let you know the real deal. No false hopes from Hot-V. I must admit Hot-V has character on and off the screen. He’s a small town Florida boy with a lot of flavor. Down to earth and mad cool. Yes ladies, he’s fine, but sorry he’s married. Shouts out to Mrs. V. holding a brother down. Also, I would like to give a shout out to Rezult; thanks for keeping me company during the showcase, funny man… funny ha ha folks… not funny queer. Keepin’ it real as only I know how; I listened to some of Hot-V’s tracks and yes, he’s taking the rap game by storm. Go cop that “Hurricane” in Feb ’08. For those peeps who claim to be too broke to buy the ‘real’ cd, you have 4 months to save up. No bootlegging brothers and sisters on the grind. When the product’s good, we’ve got to support our people. If it sucks then hey, they’re on their own.
Chi-Town, O-Town and all towns hit up the Princess and let me know what you think on this and other topics at princess@watchthepulse.com. If you've missed a column, don't forget to check-out the archives. God Bless!!! |
